Common Overlooked Signs Of Sports Injuries

Injuries can occur during any activity, but they are more likely to occur in high-intensity sports or activities that require repetitive or strong motions. There are some obvious warning signs to look out for, such as pain, swelling, and stiffness, but other symptoms may be less obvious or easily neglected.

Let's take a look at some of the most common injury warning signs that both athletes and nonathletes overlook.

Muscle pain

Muscle pain is often overlooked as a result of the mentality of "No pain, no gain." However, muscle pain is a genuine indication of a potential physical injury, particularly assuming it is serious or progressing - and furthermore on the off chance that you are not consistent enough about performing warm-ups before weighty movement.

Many people suffer from muscle pain on a daily basis, especially if they:

  • Have sleeping habits that include lying down in the same spot for an extended period
  • Maintain the same posture when working, studying, or sitting still for an extended time
  • Are you on a medication course that may cause muscle aches
  • Have a medical condition that causes muscle pain
  • Regularly exercise and workout

Muscle pain is easy to dismiss as insignificant, especially when it occurs during a workout, sports practice, or competition. Any new aches, on the other hand, should be taken seriously because they could indicate an orthopedic injury that necessitates medical attention.

Joint pain

A joint is a point where two or more bones meet to allow movement. Knees, elbows, hips, ankles, wrists, shoulders, and fingers are the most commonly injured joints in sports.

Joint pain can be caused by a variety of factors, including:

  • Keeping your joints in the same position for an extended period
  • Performing motions that are repeated
  • Being overweight or rapidly gaining weight

If you have persistent or severe joint pain, see our orthopedic doctors. The doctors here can suggest a treatment plan that will target the source of your pain, provide relief, and help you avoid the recurrence of the sports injury.

Numbness

The sensation of pins and needles in the affected area is common with numbness or tingling. Arms, legs, hands, feet, fingers, and/or toes are typically affected. A burning sensation can accompany the numbness and tingling.

If the numbness and tingling are accompanied by the following symptoms, see our orthopedic doctors right away.

  • Weakness of muscles and limbs
  • Loss of control over your limbs, bladder, or bowels
  • Inability to move a part of your body
  • Instability and walking difficulties
  • Confusion or unconsciousness
